Code Product HM50002 Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera and Hitch Aligner System Admittedly all-time purchase I've ever made! I own a 2004 F-150 Ford Lariat and pulled a 30ft. Travel trailer for 10 years without this product. I didn't find out well-nigh it until I traded for a Motorhome with a backup camara. I kept my truck just still had difficulty backing in & out of parking spaces. This camara is a life saver. My truck has the new wider wheel base and equipped with the trailer tow pkg. and the bed has a tonnal cover on it, and so it's difficult to judge how shut I am to something when bankroll upwards. It comes with like shooting fish in a barrel installation instructions and works fantastic. I'm 77 yrs. old and installed it myself. It would be a lot easier if I had a elevator but no such luck. The installation instructions are very simple if you lot have whatever kind of "do it yourself " mechanical experience. The hardest part is running the 20 Ft. Wire under the truck and nix tying it upwardly. That'due south where a Car Lift would make information technology a snap. Scooting around on your back at my age is not recommended. There are videos on YouTube that show you how to remove & replace about any part or trim piece on almost whatever vehicle. I mounted my camara on the left drivers side nuance right by the windshield mail. Perfect position for my truck. I accept a nuance embrace and the screen mounting has a mucilage zipper, not a suction loving cup. I removed the adhesive comprehend on the camara and the aforementioned on a piece of Velcro and I stuck information technology to the fabric of the dash cover for a secure mounting that I can elevator off if needed. I've showed it to a couple of friends who are going to buy one even though they don't tow anything. It's an astonishing amazing Dorsum Up Camara well worth the price.

As always, etrailer purchases arrive quickly. I installed the Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Photographic camera on my 2016 Ford F-150 after watching the first-class installation video on the etrailer spider web page. I highly recommend watching the video. The installation procedure went well, and the monitor has a very articulate picture. The only challenging attribute of the installation process was the alignment of the camera then the hitch brawl was at the "blood-red" line level on the monitor screen. My trailer hitch ball is at the same level as the the license plate (see photo), making it necessary to bending the camera upward higher than its upper limit. To correct the problem, I had to angle the license plate upward. One time that adjustment was made, the unabridged system worked cracking! My but proposition to the manufacturer would be to alter the photographic camera housing so there is a greater range of camera aligning.

The photographic camera mountain is magnetic so make certain you have something other than aluminum to attach information technology to.

Hooked it, upwardly, charged it, and downloaded the wifi. It works fine. I only wish it came with an angle bracket because I have no right angle metal on the back of my trailer to attach the magnets. Not a big deal considering I tin can make a correct angle metal plate and so all should work well. Great clear pic.

Camera and screen work peachy. I use it use it for hitching upwardly my camer and boat. And i've used for more then just my hitch. It has also been great to use on the back of our 31' camper, when I attach information technology to my bumper. It just takes a couple of times to get the hang of things. Screen is piece of cake to see and camera has strong magnetic base, with a good field of view. Glad I got information technology and have recommended information technology to friends.

I have a 28 ft inclosed machine trailer if I put the camera on back of the trailer to see how far to support before I hit something the camera is too far away and don't work and that is virtually 45 feet away. Dear Customer Service, The rating section would not have a marker, merely I identify the production as excellent. It was easy to install as the instructions are straight forward, and I have now installed the Hopkins system on two of my Ford F-150s. I have a manufacturing plant unit on my latest Ford F150, which had a camera only. I missed the sensor system, and I had to install it on my 2015 F150. The Hopkins Backup Camera and Sensor system is comparable to the manufactory system, only a lot less expensive. I would not exist without it on any of my vehicles. Thanks etrailer for your support and excellent service. Larry B.

Easy to prepare upward and employ. Image quality is excellent. I mounted it on the back window of my F150 to encounter the gooseneck hitch. One time you become close to the hitch the view is excellent, but the field of view is inadequate for rear window mounting for a short bed with gooseneck hitch. The problem is you cannot come across the gooseneck until information technology is too close to the hitch to do much correction. The F150 has aluminum bed, so magnet does not work. I will accept to brand a photographic camera mount that I can place depression in the back of the bed to solve the field of view problem. A local accompaniment dealer has put these on gunkhole trailers for years, and reports that they concur upwardly very well. Product is exactly every bit advertised and quality seems fantabulous.

My wife rode with a friend for dejeuner who had a new car with a dorsum-up photographic camera. She was really impressed and was talking about ownership a new car to supervene upon her 2011 Ford Escape that would take the backup camera. I found a video showing how to install the camera on an Escape by etrailer. I was impressed by the company and bought a unit. It arrived quickly and I was able to install it following the instructions I had watched. It took me a couple of hours to install, the hardest part being fishing the cables to the rear of the car. In one case installed it worked great. My wife is very, very happy with the install. She says she is much more confident in parking her car. Thanks a lot. I would, and do recommend etrailer and the back up photographic camera kit.

Overall, the installation went well. The video helped lot. I chose to not use the clips on the panel, and mounted information technology underneath on the pinnacle of the bezel around the instrument cluster. The on/off switch was kind of hard to become to, then I incorporated my own switch on the dash. By running a separate ground wire through to the dash to that switch, I was able to accomplish this. I utilise the on off switch when hooked to a trailer. This unit seems to fill my backup sensor needs, without an extra effort to install. Works pretty good too.

Guys and gals. The Trailblazer Deer Alert is a very effective tool at letting deer know that yous're approaching. For those non familiar, it's similar a train whistle warning humans so we don't become startled and panic. This is the alarm for deer. When you lot finally get to them, they'll all be looking your manner, it'south kind of weird, simply now they dont scatter. It makes information technology safer to avert them when they stay put. The camera is of high quality, as is the rearview mirror and monitor. I did have to return the first mirror because the bracket didn't match my 2013 Ram 1500'southward windshield mount, fifty-fifty though it was listed as a universal fit. The Ram has a triangular type plumbing equipment. I tapped into the reverse low-cal wiring for ability. l concluded up having to supplant the incandescent opposite lite bulbs with LED bulbs considering the monitor prototype flickered badly until I installed the LEDs. I think this was because the BCM (Body Control Module) got dislocated with the additional power depict. Since then the camera and monitor have worked flawlessly. Information technology provides a great view behind the truck, even at night. Because of the placement on the bumper it doesn't take a good view of the hitch ball, merely I don't tow very oft. Overall I have been very pleased and feel that the camera is well worth the toll.

I bought this because my daughter and I had both backed the truck into the camper parked in the driveway. Then far, it has worked for its purpose. Information technology does not work every bit well as the factory setup in my Ford Escape. The master trouble is seeing the image in the rear view mirror when the lord's day is bright. I also need to put on my reading glasses to meet the paradigm clearly (if I could drive with the seat dorsum another iii inches I would be fine). The auto-dim feature of the mirror works great. After the initial install, I moved the camera from over top of the license plate to the bottom of the bumper beside of the hitch receiver, having cutting a notch in some of the plastic trim and then it would not block the view. That was a huge improvement. When installing on a mid 2000s Ford Superduty, there are some good videos online for removal of the A-colonnade trim and catch handle. There is a wire nether the nuance related to PTO functionality that provides ability simply when the key is switched on that you tin can use to power the unit. Run the cable to the photographic camera nether the sill plates (these are in the bottom of the door opening) to the back of the cab before exiting to the underside of the truck. Whorl the excess wire here and zip necktie it. When having major engine work done, point this wire out to the mechanic in example he has to elevator the cab to do the work -- there will be plenty extra wire to allow him to do this without disconnecting anything.

Ford F-150 Backup Camera Questions
- Yep, in that location'south a three fashion switch on the bottom of the Rear View Safety Backup Sensor System # RVS-115 that allows you lot to totally plough it off for when you are towing so that the trailer does not confuse the sensor. You can run into this at the 2:20 mark of the attached review video I linked.
view full respond... - Yes. The Swift Hitch Digital Wireless Hitch Alignment Camera and Monitor - Night Vision - 8-Hour Camera Bombardment # SH02Digital y'all were looking at has a l degree viewing angle, this is due to it existence designed for adjustment a trailer hitch receiver on a truck and non for being a support camera. For a magnetic pick with a wider viewing bending I recommend the Rear View Prophylactic WiFi Hitch Backup Camera System - Wireless # RVS-83112-WiFi which volition connect to your smart telephone or tablet...
view total answer... - You volition need to drill 4 holes in the rear bumper of your 2018 Ford F-150 to install the Rear View Rubber Backup Sensors part # RVS-115. You'll want to drill them at equal distances in the rear bumper. The holes volition need to be 21.5 mm when not using the grommets or 25 mm when using the grommets. This does not tie into the wiring of your vehicle aside from power and ground.
view full answer... - I do have some options for you but unfortunately at that place are no observation cameras that you lot can mount to your trailer that are uniform with the factory monitor on your 2018 Ford F-150. Your other choice include replacing your rear view mirror with the kit # RVS-770718 and calculation the trailer tow quick connect kit # RVS-213-613 or using a completely different monitor with the kit # RVS-770613-213 which comes with the quick connect kit. The reward of using the replacement...
view full answer... - The Hopkins Backup Sensor System # HM60100VA that you referenced is designed to wire into the reverse light excursion on your vehicle. This means that the alert will only sound when backing up the vehicle and not while towing or parked with a trailer attached. If you are worried about the alarm going on when backing up with a trailer attached, you can pretty easily disable information technology by mounting the alert in an accessible location and unplugging the wire leads that connect behind the...

This organization volition give you 4 hours of use when fully charged and will require a 3 60 minutes charge time.
view total answer... - All-time solution nosotros have would be the Hopkins Backup Sensor system part # HM60100VA which has the sensors mounted to a license plate subclass which won't require y'all to drill into the bumper of the vehicle to install.
view full answer... - At that place is an uninterrupted distance of upwards to fifty feet. The installation details for the Rear View Safety WiFi Hitch Backup Camera System - Wireless, # RVS-83112-WiFi reference this. I've attached them for yous to farther assist.
view full answer... - For a fill-in camera you tin use at the dorsum of your trailer I recommend the digital version of the Swift Hitch camera # SH02Digital. The digital betoken will not suffer from the same possible interference bug that tin affect other wireless systems. The camera has a 300 foot range simply y'all will to put equally few obstructions between the antenna on the photographic camera and the monitor. Mounting the camera up high on your trailer will aid with that. You volition too be able to see more than of what...
view full respond... - I called my contact at Rear View Safety and asked about the WiFi Hitch Fill-in Photographic camera System, part # RVS-83112-WIFI. They told me that the system is not automatic and that information technology needs to be operated with the smartphone or tablet APP to turn on and off. Basically you'd desire to leave it on while you are travelling so that you tin view behind you when needed similar you lot said y'all were interested in. The battery life is 8 hours also.
view total answer... - The Rampage Wireless Backup Camera, part # RA7710, has a built-in light that illuminates the area around the photographic camera. If needed, you can turn the light on or off from your tablet or phone. There is no IR(infrared) capability with this backup photographic camera system.
view full respond... - I called my contact at Binge and asked about the lite on the # RA7710 camera. They told me the light will illuminate about a two-human foot area around the camera. They said information technology is designed for helping when you are hooking upwardly your trailer.
view full answer... - It sounds to me like something is not wired correctly inside of the connectors on backup camera # HM50002. Brand certain that on both halves of the connectors the wires are fastened to the pins and that there are no broken wires or aptitude pins in the connectors. The connectors are basically a laissez passer-through device. The camera only needs the reverse light circuit to turn on (and the basis). So the simply thing it could be is a broken connection from a wire or wires or bent/broken pins...
view full answer... - The factory display in your 2014 Ford F-150 would take to have the same input as the wiring for the camera in the Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Photographic camera and Hitch Aligner System Item # HM50002. It likely does not so you would have to modify the connector on the photographic camera wiring and splice in the correct connector. Even and then I tin can't guarantee that information technology would work. Some other option is Rear View Prophylactic Backup Camera System for Ford F-150 and F-250 Pickup Trucks Item # RVS-F150.
view full answer... - What you tin can do is adhere the power wire for the backup camera # HM50002 to the running light circuit so that you won't have to run any wires or install a switch. And so to operate the camera you would but turn on the running lights. Now, this method will plough the camera on any fourth dimension your head lights are on and then at night it would exist on all the fourth dimension. Just plough the monitor off in that situation! The wiring is not very large gauge with this camera and so at most I would say employ 16...
view full respond... - I can help you lot spot the differences between the Hopkins Smart Hitch and the NVision. First both the NVision # HM60195VA and the Smart Hitch # HM50002 are made by the same company Hopkins, then they volition have many similarities, just there are a few differences. The Smart Hitch # HM50002 does have the hitch mode and the everyday mode where equally the NVision only has the "everyday" mode. In Everyday Way, the monitor will brandish a grid in red, yellow, and greenish that alerts you...
view total answer... - Yeah, since you already have a 7-way connector, you tin tee the Hopkins smart hitch dorsum-up photographic camera # HM50002 into your 2014 Ford F-150 existing trailer wiring. Your 7-way remains active every bit earlier. My co-worker had this photographic camera in his 2003 PT Cruiser and it worked great. It had very articulate definition on the 3.5-inch color monitor. Take a look at the installation video I included too.
view total answer... - So the role you mentioned is just a replacement office for a third brake light photographic camera so it won't work for your 2013 Ford F-150, and there isn't a fit for a third brake light camera that works with your '13 F-150, either with your electric current monitor or with a new monitor. The merely option that can work is a wireless photographic camera with a magnetic base, the Rear View Safety Wireless Hitch Camera # RVS-83112.
